Carrier-Broker Program: Broker Your Own Loads, Keep the Margin

The carrier-broker program lets carriers with brokerage authority run their own freight brokerage on FreightConnect — post loads, take bids, and keep 85% of every commission instead of handing the margin to a middleman.

Requirements

Registration is validated automatically against FMCSA. You need:

  • An MC number with active brokerage authority (we verify it against FMCSA in real time)
  • A surety bond of at least $75,000 (BMC-84/85), unexpired
  • A BOC-3 designation (process agent filing)

These are the federal requirements for brokerage authority — FreightConnect checks them, it doesn't add to them.

How to Register

  1. From your dashboard, open the Carrier-Broker section and click Register
  2. Enter your MC number, surety bond amount and expiration, and BOC-3 agent details
  3. FreightConnect verifies your authority against FMCSA on the spot

If everything checks out, you're approved immediately — your org is upgraded to carrier-broker and the Carrier-Broker Dashboard unlocks. If a requirement is unmet (bond too small, expired, missing BOC-3), your registration is saved as pending with a list of exactly what's missing, and you can re-register once it's fixed.

You can check your registration status any time from the same page.

What You Get

  • The Carrier-Broker Dashboard — pipeline view of your brokered loads, bids, and commissions
  • Marketplace posting — post loads, collect bids from other carriers, accept or reject
  • The unified load board — DAT + Truckstop + Direct freight in one view
  • AI rate recommendations — the same rate intelligence brokers use
  • KYC on every counterparty — carriers you book are FMCSA-verified with timestamped vetting records

The Economics

  • Free to start. No subscription for carrier-brokers.
  • 85/15 split. You keep 85% of the brokerage commission on every delivered load; the platform takes 15%. Commission accrues automatically when the load is delivered with a confirmed POD.
  • Better rates on dedicated lanes. Lanes converted to dedicated contracts use tiered royalty rates as low as 6% platform share. See Lane Intelligence.
